I’ve always believed that community is built through the small and meaningful ways we show up for one another. Giving back has been a constant thread in my life, shaped by a genuine desire to support others and contribute to something bigger than myself.
As someone who is naturally driven, community-minded, and deeply appreciative of connection, I’ve always looked for opportunities to get involved, whether through volunteering, supporting local initiatives, or simply bringing people together around a shared purpose. That sense of responsibility to give back is something I carry with me in both my personal and professional life.
This year, I had the opportunity to bring that passion to life in a new way by organizing a Women Build team through Habitat for Humanity Niagara. Alongside a group of incredible colleagues, we came together not only to support an important cause, but to strengthen our own sense of teamwork and connection while doing something truly meaningful.
Access to safe and affordable housing is foundational. Supporting families as they work toward homeownership is about more than building houses, it’s about building stability, dignity, and opportunity for the future. Being part of that process is both humbling and motivating.
I’m also incredibly grateful to the University of Niagara Falls Canada for fostering a culture that values community engagement and for providing volunteer days that make opportunities like this possible. That support empowers us to step outside of our day-to-day roles and contribute in ways that have a lasting impact.
For us, this experience is a reflection of what can happen when purpose, people, and opportunity come together. It’s a reminder that when we invest in our communities, we help build something far greater than ourselves.
